Back to the times when Lamborghini was just starting to build exceptional supercars, the company had been envisioning a road car which has the specifications near to that of a race car. Just after two years after Ferruccio Lamborghini had decided to realize the shift from making tractors to supercars, they premiered the Miura – a very rare line-up.
Some of the models for this rare road car line-up include the Miura S, SV, and the SV/J. SV/J is the rarest – only five were made one of which is made for the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Miura S or the P400 S (Posteriore 4 Litri) was introduced at the 1968 Turin Motor Show.
The SV or known as the Lamborghini Miura P400 SV were built between the years 1966 to 1969 to a total of 275 productions.
The SV’s bare chassis was first presented at the 1965 Turin motor show then finally officially released at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show.
This two seater berlinetta has a mid mounted rear wheel drive V12 engine angled at 60 degrees and has a light alloy block with the gearbox and the differential on the same block and pressed-in liner. It has a chain driven dual overhead camshafts with2 valves/cyl and a cylinder capacity of 3939 cc.
Miura then made way to the high performance two-door mid engine sports cars.
Its engine can deliver a maximum power of 350 bhp at 7000 rpm and a maximum torque of 369 Nm at 5100 rpm. It uses a 100 Octane Premium fuel and a consumption of 19.0 L/100km.
SV can let you sprint from zero to a hundred km per hour in just 6.7 seconds. Zero to a hundred miles per hour can be achieved in 14.3 seconds which is almost as fast as taking off the roof of the Ferrari California.
The SV has a sheet-steel utilized body with welded box sections designed by Bertone. Its body is of Monocoque steel construction with aluminum front and rear sections. The standard tyre is a Pirelli Cinturato Belted. The steering is an unassisted rack and pinion, 3.4 turns lock to lock. It has an all-wheel disc brakes operated hydraulically via a dual circuit system. The suspensions are all independent consisting of double transverse wishbones with coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers and anti-roll bars.
To top of these all, after about almost five decades, the units still available today are in good conditions and can still run great. It has a great performance during its time. Automobile Lamborghini are sure to bring a road car yet looks like a race car.
At 2006, Lamborghini introduced the 2006 Miura concept in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Geneva presentation of the novel Miura. Many had thought it would be the comeback ofteh famous Miura. But Stefan Winklemann, Lamborghini president and CEO, said that “The Miura is a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about he future. Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura.”
Winklemann pointed out that Miura would remain a history and would remain a collector’s item, a rare car. When you buy a Miura, it’s as if, buying a piece of the history of the great Lambo cars.
This is a rare collector’s item. So what are you looking for? Find and buy Miura. It’s a novelty item so you should grab for it. You can even still use it on the road and tell everyone on the road, “Hey everyone! I’ve got one of the oldest Lambos and the driving feeling is great! The driving experience is truly a one of a kind not to mention there are only less than a thousand of Miuras out there. I got one of them, and it feels great!”
